Dennis Thompson, ATC

Dennis Thompson graduated from East Central University in Ada Oklahoma in 1986 with a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Certification in Athletic Training from the National Athletic Trainers Association. He then worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Washington and Lee University in Lexington Virginia until 1988. Dennis then returned to the University of Oklahoma as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer working with football, track and gymnastics. In 1989 he started as the Director of Sports Medicine for Oklahoma Center of Athletes in Oklahoma City. While there, he worked with High School, College and Professional sport teams while teaching and working as the Head Athletic Trainer at Oklahoma City University.

Dennis has worked with coaches and all types of athletes in Southern Oklahoma for 8 years. He specialties in injury prevention and on field/court injury management.

Dennis is a founding partner of Excel Therapy Specialists Ardmore. He and his wife Amy enjoy sports and spending time at the area lakes. Dennis enjoys any type of fishing and spends his spare time skiing and wakeboarding.

Amy Thompson, PT

Amy Thompson obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 1994. She has had experience as an on-site clinical coordinator / physical therapist at General Motors – OKC Plant, and Michelin North America – Ardmore Plant. Her focus was orthopedic work related injuries, and ergonomic training / back safety education programs to new employees. Amy’s primary interest lays in general outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation with focus on the Spine Complex, Women’s Health, and the Shoulder Complex combining manual therapy treatment skills with therapeutic strengthening to maximize overall function.

Amy and her husband Dennis enjoy spending time at one of the several lakes in the Ardmore area. Amy also enjoys golfing, jogging, and spending time with her animals. Amy is a Founding Partner of the Excel Ardmore Clinic.

Jeff Clemons, PT/ATC

Jeff Clemons received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from the University of Oklahoma in 1995. he then attended the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1998. After completing a sports medicine internship at the University of Virginia, he began his clinical and completed his Athletic Trainers Certification (ATC).

Since moving to Ardmore in 1998, Jeff has served as a Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer and Clinic Coordinator for a national healthcare organization and has worked closely with are schools in their sports medicine programs. He specializes in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy and sports medicine.

Jeff and his wife, Jodie, are founding partners of Excel Therapy – Ardmore where he serves as director of clinical operaions. They have two children. Jeff is an avid OU fan and enjoys golfing, playing softball, serving in his church and spending time with his family and friends.

Jodie Clemons, PTA

Jodie Clemons graduated from Murray State College’s Physical Therapy Assistant School in 1998. Since that time she has served southern Oklahoma in various fields of Physical Therapy including outpatient, skilled nursing rehab, home health, and long term care. Although she enjoys helping her patients in all settings return to their highest potential functionally, her primary love is outpatient orthopedics.

Jodie is a founding partner of Excel Therapy in Ardmore. She enjoys serving in her church, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She and her husband, Jeff, have two children, Jaxon and Jentry.

Sue Steele, OT

Sue Steele graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy. Sue has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including pediatrics, inpatient, outpatient and home health. Sue also worked for hospitals in Texas and Oklahoma before joining an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. In 1991, Sue achieved her certification for Functional Capacity Evaluation Specialists from Key Method/Assessment in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Sue specializes in upper extremities and primarily for post operative and cumulative trauma injuries. She enjoys hand treatments for dexterity/coordination and hand splinting.

Sue is a founding partner of Excel Therapy – Ardmore. She enjoys serving her church, spending time with family, friends and her four grandchildren. Sue and her husband, Henry, have four daughters.

Angelia Simmons

Angelia attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and completed a two year office administration program. She began her career in the medical field by working in an orthopedic surgeon office. There she gained knowledge of insurance companies, billing and collections coding, medical transcription, front office duties and accounts payable. Angelia then accepted a position in physical therapy and sports medicine which she has enjoyed for more than fourteen years. Angelia spends time needleworking, gardening and playing with her pets.
